The Truth About Sarah Palin

The following are slanderous attacks by left wing blogs and the main stream media directed at Governor Palin. With Governor Palin on the ticket the liberal blogs and press are out of control. In this post I'm going to document on going bullshit reported by the press on Governor Palin, commonly referred to as Palin Madness Syndrome (PMS).

  • Palin says "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." inferring that she believes we are fighting some sort of holy war.

She did say these words, but the meaning is in the whole statement. No one who understands basic English could infer from her complete statement anything but the fact that this is a prayer request. The most widely viewed newsperson making this mistake was Charlie Gibson during his interview of Gov. Sarah Palin airing on ABC.
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.
Here are her exact words.
“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God,”

More coverage here on Charlie Gibson's error. Even the liberal Los Angeles Times points out that Gibson misrepresented her words. Maybe he should have actually watched the clip instead of relying staffers that just cruise the lefty blogs. Maybe Gibson just relied Associated Press for his info, after all the press is impartial, Right?

Update: John in Carolina had this up on his site.
The video below has clips of former Presidents FDR, HST, IKE, JFK, and Reagan, Alaska's Gov. Palin and a supremely self-important, badgering network news anchor talking about God and America.

  • She is Lying about Stopping The Bridge to Nowhere.

The truth is that she did stop this project. Once she became Governor she evaluated the needs and priorities of the state and concluded quickly not to include funding for this project in the first budget she submitted. Read a fully cited examination of this issue here.

  • Palin Cut Funding for Pregnant Teens.

This kind of title is what drives me crazy about liberal thinking. Palin has the authority to reduce the budget amounts sent to her by the legislature, line item by line item. The budget line had 5 million dollars allocated to the Covenant House, Governor Palin reduced that amount to 3.9 million dollars. Seems like a cut doesn't it? NO NO NO!

Let's get to the truth. Last year the Covenant House received 1.3 million dollars. Governor Palin has provided this private group with a 200% increase in funding from the state. So instead of a 285% increase this group got a 200% how is this a cut in funding?

  • Palin cut special needs funding by 62 percent. link [I heard Paul Begala on CNN repeat this lie also. To the anchor's credit she said she didn't about this accusation and thus would not talk further on it]

This lie isn't even disputable. I followed the links supplied in the libelous post and within 30 seconds realized the there wasn;t a budget cut at all. One item in the Special Schools section of the 2007 budget (Alaska Challenge Youth Academy Program) was missing from that section in the 2008 budget. That one item accounted for the missing 62%. It turns out that the missing program is now in a different section of the budget.

  • She Lied About Selling the Jet on E-bay. [I heard Alan Colmes say this on his radio show]

If she had said she sold the jet on Ebay this would have been a lie, but she never said that.

From her speech:
"I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing. And today, that ethics reform is a law.

While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor’s office that I didn’t believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over-the-top.

(APPLAUSE)

I put it on eBay."

She did put it on Ebay, three times, but no one met the minimum bid. Finally, the governor turned to an aircraft broker, who sold the jet to an Alaskan businessman for $2.1 million.

  • Palin Banned Books in Home Town. [link]

No she did not. From the Anchorage Daily News [link]

"Were any books censored banned? June Pinell-Stephens, chairwoman of the Alaska Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee since 1984, checked her files Wednesday and came up empty-handed.

Pinell-Stephens also had no record of any phone conversations with Emmons about the issue back then."
